There are a lot of reasons why people are obese. And if you ask a dieter why he is overweight, he would probably refer food as the culprit. But there are far more important reasons that cause this "hidden" disease.
Of all the reasons that we fail to lose weight, why blame food? Food per se is not the problem. In reality, there are more important factors why we over indulge ourselves even though we know that we should not.

1. The lack of motivation to lose the extra pounds. People are just too lazy to spend a few minutes a day to sweat it out and burn the few extra calories. They lack the will power or simply the "want" to exercise and depend on "quick fixes" that is readily available in the market.
To successfully lose weight, people have to realize that they need to develop a positive attitude towards exercise. I know it is not easy to remove the old habits, especially if we need to put some effort to it, but it's the only way to a successful weight loss.
We all need a strong will to pick ourselves up and command ourselves to start a few minutes of needed exercises at least 3 to 4 times a day. We should keep in mind about the numerous benefits that we will get if we develop this positive attitude.
2. Bad eating habits. When we get fat the tendency is we eat less food and if we think eating less food is not working, then we eat less and less food. Unfortunately, this only makes the condition worse. Why, because eventually hunger creeps in and when that happens, we instantly give in to the food binge we have been holding.
3. Negative emotions probably constitutes 95% of the reasons why people are overweight and why they overeat. These emotions push people to satisfy themselves and relieve such feelings through elemental satisfaction.
We should all keep in mind that we can overcome these problems that prevent us from living a healthy and fit life. Choosing a right diet plan that fits us is equally important to motivating ourselves to exercise and stick to the plan. Remember, right diet plan plus the will to lose weight equals a successful weight loss program.
