Since the launching of the first Grand Theft Auto title, it has continued to reap success with its succeeding games and is recognized as one of the most popular gaming franchises in the industry. As more titles has been released over the past years, it was not only an achievement for the said franchise but for the whole of the video gaming industry. There's no question that GTA is up there when it comes to the Sandbox genre, and those who've played it knows the reason why. GTA4 is the 9th game off of the series and will continue on with where GTA 3 left off. However, the series has given gamers with an entirely new experience with each game, and fans can certainly expect the same with GTA IV. A common denominator among every GTA story has been that it is, to a certain extent, highly absorbing and out of this world. But GTA 4 provides a different perspective into the game's storyline. With Niko (an ex-soldier trying to rebuild his life) as the main protagonist of the story, gamers will get the chance to partake in his struggle to survive in the hostile environment of Liberty City. With a rugged look to him, Niko feels a lot like home in Liberty City and leaves a lot to do around the city. But unlike previous GTA characters, Niko has specific objectives to achieve and giving more weight into the overall gameplay experience. Characteristic of the previous games off the series are the random acts of violence springing from out of nowhere, but with GTA 4 Niko must accomplish certain tasks and that is the main priority here. As for the other characters (even random ones) that are in GTA 4, they have improved significance as far as storyline is concerned in this game. For the most part, they will greatly impact the decisions Niko has to make in the game that involve a few characters and it will have repercussions in the game. Forming relationships with other characters in the game is also crucial in helping you progress in this game, and you will definitely have to take a few considerations first before making impulsive moves. More than the impressive gameplay, Liberty City is the perfect setting for an incredible game like GTA 4 and it just looks impressively stunning. It should be interesting to know that the city provides a very interactive setting allowing you to have access to whichever part of the city; which is definitely a good thing, considering its intricate details. If you thought you've heard enough, we are just getting started with this GTA IV feature. Learning from lapses or areas where previous GTA games went lacking, Rockstar has incorporated some new elements into this new game. Probably one of the best features in GTA IV is the combat system. There's definitely more excitement into the game with a few very efficient feature that gamers can use to their advantage. There is still the free-aim feature, but the new lock-on feature will surely improve your accuracy. With this, it is now possible to set your aim on the nearest opponent and fire at them with unwavering accuracy. You simply press a button and there goes your enemies, blasting off in Hi-Def. There is also a new cover system in this game. To make your character take cover from the nearest suitable object, just press R1. This will enable your character to effectively cover from your enemies' view and is a great way to deal with an overwhelming number of enemies. What this new feature does is that you can minimize the any form of damage that can possibly get your character killed. With this new combat system in your arsenal, playing in GTA IV has become a much more rewarding experience. If you though that was impressive, wait till you hear about GTA IV's new in-car combat system. With a great lineup of combat tools at your disposal, it is amazing how this new feature can be utilized to your advantage and yet it is nothing less as effective as your regular on-foot combat. You can drive your car while knocking down your enemies at the same time. You still have the option for a free-aim though, it's basically your choice. If before, getting to shoot someone while you're driving proved to be quite a task, this time around everything is so much better. All these efforts of improving the game play mechanics is done to live up and even surpass fans' expectation of what GTA IV can deliver. It is important to touch on the mission structure for GTA IV because it is one of the pillars of this particular game. With the success of previous GTA games, this game utilizes that winning formula to its advantage. With each mission, you will have all of Liberty City to explore and you can be assured that each mission will offer a unique, but equally challenging, experience. And with that being said, it's safe to assume that this is probably the best and most explosive release off the series yet. While in Liberty City, Roman's phone will be used by Niko and plays a key role in the game. Then, you can use that as your control panel and organizer for anything that needs to be done in the game. Through your phone, you can receive calls or messages for new missions, as well as access the multiplayer features, that will help you advance in this game. Using the phone as a means of control for players on the characters in the game is a smart way to guise the illusion of the players having complete control of the action taking place in the game. Also, an exciting new addition to this new GTA game is the online multiplayer feature. This is another way to increase the level of intensity within the game, now that you can have at most sixteen players playing side by side or competing against one another. Sooner or later, GTA IV will earn the title of king of Multiplayer because of its tremendous new features that has continued to innovate and redefine gaming as we know it.
