Self confidence is a psychological and emotional mindset that responds to somebody's need for recognition and self-acceptance. It's one among the oldest and most discussed ideas in psychology. It is used to describe a positive but nonetheless realistic perception of oneself and one's abilities. As such, self-confident people generally have a better idea of what they can achieve and will be more likely to be successful in their projects. They are able to more easily accept and understand their errors. On the contrary, a lack of confidence can prevent you from believing your actions or decisions will in the end turn out the way you had wanted. It can thus hamper the improvement of decision-making skills, planning and management strength all of which are basic and indispensable skills in the business world of today. The pre-occupation with other people's opinions of your work can also make you become overly self-critical, which will distract you from things you would otherwise be perfectly capable of doing. Low self confidence will also affect your social life, because individuals with low self confidence tend to remain in their "comfort zone" and are scared of being rejected. This is called social phobia and has a high degree of co-morbidity with low self confidence, as well as other psychological diseases such as depression. People with low self confidence are scared of the judgment of others and will avoid meeting new people, which can consequently lead to isolation and even less self confidence. Low self confidence is a vicious cycle that's hard to break. To the contrary, because they can trust their own aptitudes, self-confident people can do what they feel is appropriate and don't expect the approval of other people. They also inspire confidence: your boss, employees, customers, friends or relatives are more likely to believe in you or in what you are telling them when you look self-confident. Different experiences can cause low self confidence. Recent research indicates that education has a major impact on the development of a child's self confidence. Bodily and psychological abuses in childhood are for example the most damaging to somebody's self confidence, along with family conflicts or divorce. Overprotective parents may also contribute to a child's social phobia and deter the independence necessary to develop self confidence. Failures and successes, for example at school or in one's professional life, also play a decisive role: failing a class or losing a job are some of the different experiences that will have a negative impact your self confidence. It is nonetheless possible to overcome these bad experiences and build confidence. The first step to develop self confidence is to learn to know who you are and your strengths. Acknowledging the fact that you are allowed not to be perfect and cannot be good in all that you do will help you gain self confidence. Accepting who you are is the key to gaining self confidence. But improving self confidence also requires that you start taking risks and giving yourself credit for your accomplishments. This is very basic advice that will help you build self confidence. You might also find plenty of books that will claim they can help you gain self confidence, however not all of them are reliable. Many people have low self confidence or are only able to gain self confidence in one or a few areas of their lives because they always look for other people's approval and are scared of failing. A lot of factors, like childhood traumas, can explain why some people are not able to have the wholesome life a self confident individual could have. Those people also don't always know how to gain self confidence. However gaining self confidence can now easily and effectively be done with NLP and hypnosis. As we have seen social phobia and low self confidence can be caused by traumas or unconscious fears that can be hard to overcome through sheer self persuasion. Confidence hypnosis and NLP on the other hand can reach the unconscious part of the mind and modify belief systems to boost self confidence. They are effective tools that will help you face your fears and trust yourself to develop self confidence. Self-Hypnosis for building confidence has been used for several decades and has shown significant results in building self confidence. In a hypnotic state, accessing unconscious thoughts is a lot easier and, through hypnotic suggestion, it is possible to replace your negative thought patterns with positive ones to build self confidence.
