There are many ways to print photos. You could download the photos to your computer you want to burn to a CD and take them on a printing. DPOF makes such a printing photos easier - here is how.
DPOF is a standard that was initiated by a consortium of camera and printer manufacturers. DPOF was the purpose of printing photos easier and faster.
DPOF stands for Digital Print Order Format. The aim was to DPOF behind the process of choosing which photos to print and print them much easier and faster. If your camera supports DPOF then you can choose the photos you want to print, and the number of copies directly from your digital camera. This information is also known as the print order and is stored in the camera memory card (the same card where pictures are stored) in special files. Later you can use the memory card with photos and DPOF data to a printer that supports DPOF and would automatically print the photos on the basis of the DPOF print ordering information. Alternatively, you can plug the memory card for a photo printer that DPOF print and all the photos you've selected with the push of a button.
DPOF can do much more than just indicate which photos to print and how many copies. You can also provide additional information, such as a photo title text, photo orientation, print paper size and much more. Other useful information can be added: your contact information and your camera settings when taking the picture. All this information can make printing easier - for example, you can drop off a memory card with a printing service and they know exactly which photos to print, the number of copies on paper what formats and in what orientation. They also have your contact information where you can reach them when the prints are ready, or if there is any problem.
Not all cameras DPOF support and those that do support DPOF differences in the level of their support. For example, the simplest would be support for choosing which photos to print and how many copies, while more advanced support would be for enabling other data such as photo title title text, paper size, contacts and much more.
DPOF was extended to more than printing photographs. Examples of new features powered by DPOF: you choose photos by e-mail file as attachment. Its use is very similar to the choice of photos to print but instead of printing the photos when your memory card to the computer software reads the DPOF data and e-mails the photos you've selected to the designated e - addresses. Another feature or photo slide projection: the photos you choose can be displayed as a slideshow on a computer or are predicted on the basis of a photo projector. You could connect the memory card to a projector that DPOF and with a click to play the slideshow of your choice.
Some PC software allows you to define all appropriate measures to be undertaken in the DPOF data. For example, the software can be said: "all selected photos copied to the hard disk and discard the others" or to "print all selected photos, copy them to the hard disk and make a backup of them on a CD" - this is a fantastic way to automate some processes and photo can save time.
DPOF is not a function must have, but a good option if you want to save time and make printing photos easier. Many cameras DPOF support but most users are not aware of it and not using it. Make sure your camera supports DPOF and learning how to your advantage.
